SYMBOLIC CEREMONIES

There are many reasons you might prefer a “Symbolic Ceremony” rather than a civil or religious ceremony such as

  • you’ve already married

  • a same-sex wedding

  • a mix of religions

  • renewing your vows

  • you don't want to be restricted to a location or ceremony time

  • or you just don’t want all the fuss of the paperwork.

Here in Cyprus, there are so many wonderful locations you can confirm your love for one another.  The beauty of a Symbolic ceremony here in Cyprus is you're not tied down to those venues that the local Municipality has on their approved wedding venue lists, so you have such a wider choice.

The other advantage of the symbolic ceremony is that you are not restricted to time, if you wanted a sunset ceremony or even a candle lite ceremony this is all possible.

Have you been traveling to Cyprus for holidays for many years, do you have a favorite beach, restaurant, or bar that may be a favorite place to watch the sunset if the answer is yes then why not consider one of these special places for your Ceremony?

A church re-ewal / blessing:

All Anglican ceremonies are performed in English by UK church officials and last approximately 25 minutes. The renewal of marriage vows ceremony is very similar to a wedding service but is not an actual second marriage so there are minimal legal requirements. As you are already married you will not be required to sign a legal register and it is appropriate to walk up the aisle together, but the flow of the religious service is otherwise almost identical to the wedding service, including signing certificates commemorating the day. It is a public reminder to all attending of the joy that the husband and wife have experienced in marriage.

Most couples use their original wedding rings, which can be blessed as part of the ceremony but new rings can also be exchanged. Despite the similarities to the wedding service, Renewal of Vows services are generally simpler than for a wedding - a best man and bridesmaid's, for example, are not required though there are several other meaningful ways members of the family or friends can be included in the ceremony.

The current church donation for a re-newal is €350. (€175 as a non-refundable deposit to be paid within 4 weeks of booking).

Current Church venue fee's:

  • Ayia Kyriaki Church - No Fee

  • St George's Chapel - No Fee

  • St Nicholas' Chapel - €200
