Jen & Rich - Liopetro Paphos - 28.10.20
Updated: Apr 26, 2021
Re-Scheduled from 27.05.20 due to Covid
How did the proposal happen?
In Prague on a birthday trip! We were chilling and getting ready to go out for dinner and Rich bought out a photo book he made full of lots of memories. The last page said ‘will you marry me?’ We went out for an incredible dinner and soaked it all in!
How did you choose your venue?
We had looked at some venues on the Tie the Knot website before visiting Cyprus and then viewed 3 with Vicki. They were all stunning fit different reasons however we just knew Liopetro was ‘the one’. It’s a gut feeling, you just know!
Where did you buy your dress from, what designer was it and was it your first choice?
I bought my dress from an independent bridal shop in Bristol. I tried on dresses in two shops prior (at least 12!) and just knew when I’d found the one! I have no idea what designer the dress was to be honest, that kind of detail tends to go over my head!
Tell us about your wedding shoes, where did you get them, were they designer?
I wore flat shoes as I’m 5’8 which was an incredible decision. It was so great to be able to walk properly and lessened the fear of falling over! They were from ASOS!
What perfume did you choose to wear on the day?
I wore a Daisy perfume by Marc Jacobs.
Where did you buy the grooms suit from and how did you decide on the colour?
We bought the grooms suits from a friend of a friend’s business. We were able to work with him to design them and they were handmade for each of the guys, it was such a treat! We always knew we wanted blue and Rich chose the ties to match the bridesmaid dresses. We ordered lots of swatch samples before choosing ‘the one’.
How did you choose the bridesmaids dresses, colours & where did you get them from?
Our bridesmaid dresses were from Very. We hadn’t settled on a colour as such but it was the dresses that made us decide on the colour we chose to go with! They were so light and perfect for a wedding abroad!
Tell us about your wedding day decor, how did you choose what you had and what did you love most?
We took SO long looking through the Cyprus Wedding Touches brochure for decor and circled everything we thought we would like. Then we just kept narrowing down and thinking about what would go well together! It was great to look on websites like Pinterest to get ideas too!
What entertainment did you book, why and did the guests enjoy it?
The Cyprus dancers were so entertaining and got the party started and the DJ was so perfect.
Tell us about your cake, why that design and what flavour(s) did you choose?
We visited Love Island cakes during our visit to Cyprus and designed our wedding cake with the help of the lovely staff. We had loads of fun looking through their portfolio, picking designs and most importantly... tasting the cakes! We chose red velvet with cream cheese, lemon cake, chocolate cake with white choc icing and more! It tasted divine!
Who was your photographer, why did you book them and what did you think of your wedding photos?
We booked Lee Squirrell Photography as our photographer and he was incredible! Lee and Bridget made us feel SO comfortable on our wedding day and are so experienced! The photos are amazing and we can’t stop looking at them!
What advice would you give a couple looking to have their wedding in Cyprus?
Do it!!! We’ve never looked back! Definitely have a wedding planner because they know EVERYTHING and we also really liked that we were able to book our suppliers through Vicki. It felt like the safe, secure and stress free option.
What one snippet of advice would you give a couple for their actual wedding day?
Enjoy every moment! And try not to be nervous. We were incredibly nervous at the beginning but you don’t even notice anyone else, it just feels like the two of you all day and it’s the best feeling in the world! Also, spend a bit of time taking things in that you’ve been organising for a while! - decor etc can be easily overlooked on the day with everything going on.
Tell us about one other memorable moment from your wedding day?
It just has to be the Cypriot Dancers and the food!!! We had the BBQ, it was incredible and our friends and family still talk about it now!
