PLANNING CHECK LIST  

 

12 Months or More before the Wedding

  • Announce your wedding date with save the date cards

  • Inform your guest on the details of your wedding ie its location in Cyprus, send them hotel details. 

 

9 To 11 Months before the Wedding

  • Begin your search for the following:

  • Bridal Gown

  • Grooms Suit

  • Bridesmaid Dresses

  • Shoes and Accessories

  • Wedding Lingerie

  • Compile a preliminary guest list

  • Finalise your wedding colours, theme and style.

  • Research flowers and bouquet styles you like – discuss this with your wedding planner 

  • Choose your bridesmaids, best man, ushers, flower girl’s / page boys and ensure they are aware of what their duties are.

  • Start looking at invitation designs and order wedding stationery (invitations, envelopes, order of service etc)

  • Find your passports and check the expiry dates and tell your guests to do the same.

  • Find your birth certificates and check they match what’s on your passport.

  • If you’ve changed your name or your divorced or widowed then find all relevant paperwork 

 

6 To 8 Months before the wedding

  • Choose and purchase your wedding rings

  • Start planning ceremony and reception music choices, create a play list to send to your DJ, ask your guests if they have a favourite song they would like. 

  • Decide if you’re going to do a father daughter dance as well as a first dance.

  • If you haven't already, purchase your wedding gown, veil and accessories

  • Finalise and order/purchase attire for your bridesmaids, best man, ushers, flower girl’s / page boys

  • Send out your invitations

 

4 To 5 Months before the Wedding

  • Decide on your wedding decorations including favours

  • Start looking for a local solicitor to take care of your Statuary Declarations or arrange your Freedom to Marry certificate. 

  • Decide on your flowers – Colours, type and the style of your bouquet.

 

3 Months before the Wedding

  • Arrange your Statuary Declarations appointment

  • Finalise your guest list

  • Choose gifts for your bridesmaids, best man, ushers, flower girl’s / page boys and parents

  • Groom and male members of the wedding party to arrange for a suit fitting.

  • Arrange a dress box or case for your wedding dress. 

 

2 Months before the Wedding

  • Start to thinking about hair styles you may like and collect photos Start making/buying wedding favours

  • Finalise music selections for the ceremony and reception 

  • Start to create a list of required shots to provide the photographer

  • Start working on your seating plan and how you will relay this to your guests.

 

1 Month before the Wedding

  • Arrange for a final wedding dress fitting

  • Start a packing list

  • Collect or print your holiday / flight tickets

  • Pre book any seats

  • Check in on line

 

2 Weeks before Flying 

  • Finalise Seating chart and print or create your table plan 

  • Make sure the men have their final suit fitting.

 

1 Week before Flying

  • Relax you should have everything under control by now.

  • All you should have left to do now is pack! 

 

UPON ARRIVAL 

  • Attend welcome meeting reconfirm all arrangements, confirm hair and make appointments for the wedding day etc.

  • Visit ceremony & Reception venues

  • Attend food and beverage meetings and go to the town hall to complete your paperwork  

 

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT: 

The days leading up to the wedding day

  • If the groom is greeting guests in the hotel bar, confirm with your guests what time and what bar. 

  • If you have transport arranged confirm with everyone in the wedding party where this departs from and at what time, tell them they must not be late.   

  • Confirm all duties required with the wedding party, 

  • who will have the rings and when will you give them to him / her?

  • order of any bridesmaids / flower girls / page boys and will they walk in front or behind the bride? 

  • who will look after any children 

 

The Day Before

  • Confirm all duties required with the wedding party again! 

  • Arrange a time that you will get into your dress and who will help you with this, sometimes too many people in the room at the same time can make things stressful. Take into consideration if you have transport who is due to leave and when. 

  • Try to get an early night, don’t drink too much alcohol try to avoid foods that might give you a nervous tummy and finally relax!

 

The Wedding Day. 

  • Try to eat breakfast, even if you think you aren't hungry.

  • Drink plenty of water during the morning to keep you hydrated. 

  • If you’re getting married later in the day try make time for some lunch, even if it’s in your room, if your hotel don’t offer room service arrange that someone fetch you something. 

  • If you’re getting ready at the ceremony location begin dressing 1 hour before the ceremony is scheduled to begin or if you’re being transported to your ceremony venue then begin dressing 1 hour before  your transport is due to depart. This will give you plenty of time for photos etc. you’ll not feel rushed and you’ll not get all hot and flustered. 

  • Don’t forget to plan ahead if you need help getting into your dress, check what time whoever is helping you needs to depart for the ceremony.  

  • Take a deep breath, relax and most importantly enjoy your big day!
